In last nights blog post I mentioned that I'd been given Pocahontas to watch as its one of the many Disney films I had never seen, and even though I'm not a child, I still enjoyed it.
When a ship full of English sailors/soldiers go to visit a new world in search of gold for the governor, they arrive to the home of Indians and Pocahontas. One of the men, John Smith, meets Pocahontas and slowly they fall in love, which makes things hard when John is caught and battle preparations are made between the sailors and Indians. Sadly things get misunderstood resulting in John being shot, luckily it doesn't kill him but his recovery splits up the couple as he travels back to London with the sailors to get better.
I think this would be a great film for kids, or even anyone of any age really. It's a musical film so anyone could learn the songs and enjoy singing along while watching the story unfold. There are also some parts that still made me laugh a bit but that I'm sure would make children laugh more, like some of the animals doing silly things.
I'm happy to say that I can now cross this off my long list of Disney films that are still waiting to be watched, and I still have the song that Pocahontas sings (just around the river bend) going round in my head, very catchy! Give a watch if you haven't already and especially if you love Disney.
Until next time, thanks for reading :-)
