Rough Cut!

Hello, hello, hello!

So excited to let everyone know that Rough Cut's first on air radio show will be this Monday (6th October 2014) from 7pm-8pm. Go online to PureFM.com and click on listen live! We cover all things film. Reviews, trivia, quizes and more!

The three of us are looking forward to it so much, for me I'm excited and nervous at the same time. It'll be so much fun, especially doing it with two lovely girlies.

I can't wait! Hope if any of you listen that you enjoy it and let me know if you listen in to our show. The first show won't be perfect but we'll get the hang of it.

Last week we had a little photo shoot arranged by Charli for our show photo, so for now I shall leave you with that photo down below. Big thank you to Charli's boyfriend Scott for being our photographer!

Until next time my lovelies, thanks for reading :) x

It also took us several attempts to get this shot perfect. There was so much popcorn everywhere!

Our Own Show!

Hello my lovelies,
How are you all doing today, or this evening?

So I previously mentioned that I'd had some exciting news, well this is it...

Recently myself and two of my friends, Hannah & Charli went along to a welcome meeting for our university radio station, Pure FM. We ended up liking the sound of it and decided we really wanted to do a show of our own together.

We had a think about what our show could be based on and what we could talk about, filled out the application form and waited to hear back from the programming manager of the station.

Less than 24 hours after applying we heard back confirming that our show had been accepted!!

We have our own radio show! We are all so happy and cannot wait to get started and get on air.
As media/photography students we are all interested in film and this is what our radio show is going to be based on. Film reviews, trivia, quizes and other exciting things. As three girls with similar, but also different likes, we will have different opinions on the films we discuss which will help to make it more interesting, and don't worry they won't be all girly chick flicks.

We have our training session coming up in the studio next week and as soon as we're on air you'll all be some of the first to know.

Look out for Rough Cut on the Pure FM website and listen online!

Until next time,
Thanks for reading :)

Oh hi there...

Hello my lovelies,
How are you all? Hope you all had a good summer!

Back to uni for my third and final year, and everyone knows what that means, wasting time and procrastinating again by watching tv and films. But hey, I'm a media student so its allowed, right?

Some of you may have seen an old post I made about a BBC drama called Our Girl, and may possibly remember that I loved it. Well of course it made me very happy to find out that they've brought it back as a series and I have already watched the first episode and am already loving it. Looking forward to seeing what Lacey Turner brings to this role as an army medic.

As I spend a lot of time (probably too much time if I'm honest) watching tv, I'm also quite happy that programmes like The Vampire Diaries and Greys Anatomy are back soon. Does that make me a sad person? Probably, but I enjoy them so surely that's all that matters.

You've all probably got programmes that you love to watch too, even just as a guilty pleasure that you won't admit to liking to anyone, so at least one of you must still love High School Musical, come on admit it?

For now that is and all but look forward to some exciting news in my next post that I can't wait to share with you all, you won't have long to wait don't worry.

Until next time, thanks for reading :) xx

A Fun Little Buddy

Hello my lovelies,

I know I've not posted again for a while and its also been a while since posting a review but I am working on a few reviews and once they're ready then they'll be up as soon as possible.

But for now just thought I'd introduce a little guy that may be making an appearance here and there on the blog. So recently my boyfriend bought me a 12 inch wooden mannequin (strange maybe, but I had wanted one for a while), and this mannequin of mine (although on the box they spelt it manikin), seems to have cured my boredom in many situations.

As he has moveable limbs I have found myself placing him in random positions whilst doing house work, out shopping or just relaxing, and its been quite amusing so thought I'd share some of those images with you guys. Oh, and he has a name, he's called Manny.

I know its just a random post today but this little guy keeps me amused and occupied when there seems to be nothing to do, or when I'm taking a break from review writing.

Also just a small update but I think I may have mentioned it previously, although this blog was made for the purpose of being somewhere to share my reviews, it will also be used to share other things as well such as fun things like this, but the reviews will still remain and will be up when they're ready for reading.

That's all for now so until next time,
thanks for reading :)

Suggestions Please.

Good afternoon my lovelies, or good morning or evening depending on when and where you're reading this, but anyway, hi,

Hope you've all had a good week but now its Friday and the sun is shining so forget work and look forward to the weekend! I'm lucky enough to be spending it with the boyfriend so hope yours is just as lovely too.

Now as I've nearly finished my second year at uni I've had a lot of spare time and this has been well spent browsing through Netflix. I've watched so many films recently, but not all are as good as others.

So far I've watched:

  • Pramface (all episodes so far)
  • The Accidental Husband
  • You Don't Mess with the Zohan
  • Morning Glory
  • Hope Springs
  • Prime
  • Playing the Field
  • The Big Wedding
  • The Smurfs film (Yes I know, I'm just a big kid)
  • You Again
  • Gambit,
  • and Safe Haven.
Yes this is a lot I know but I have a crazy amount of free time to use up when I'm not at the gym or getting an early start on my dissertation work for next year. So I was wondering if anyone may have any recommendations or suggestions on what films to watch next, or even a television series to get stuck into. Generally not too picky about the genre but obviously I love a good comedy or rom-com, but also the occasional action or adventure film too.

Feel like I should get some more reviews up on here but for that I need some good films or shows that are worth mentioning.

If anyone think they have an idea of a film worth reviewing or just worth watching then feel free to let me know but for now, until next time,

Thanks for reading :) x

What a week its been!

Hello my lovelies,

So this post won't be about a film or television programme, or even really anything specific this time but just a bit of general chit chat.

I seem to have had one of those weeks where everything is a bit all over the place, with many highs and lows, but finally its Friday so bring on the weekend!!

Finally handed in my last piece of work for my second year of university and its so close to being over, just a few weeks left then start all over again in September when I'll be going into my third and final year, and moving into a lovely big new house with some very lovely girlies. We left it a bit last minute but found a house that we all liked after only looking at three! Its a bit like a tardis really, bigger in the inside than it looks on the outside, it also has a rather spooky looking basement that we decided would work well being named the dungeon instead.
Hopefully in the new house everything will work with no problems whereas one of the annoying things about this week has been having to have the maintenance guys out and an electrician out, but they both ended up being equally confused as to what is actually going on with our fuse box, great! Easy to say that did not leave us with much hope about the electrics working, but *touch wood* they've worked for the past couple of days, so hoping they're ok now. That was the hectic part!

Biggest positive outcome from recently has been that I found out I got a first on the short film that I made with two friends and it was such a shock but I'm obviously so pleased that all our effort and time paid off. So proud of myself and the girls I worked with, after such a stressful time creating the film we deserved a good grade, and now in a couple of weeks we have a student film screening to attend where others are able to see it. It may need a little explaining, but it was good enough to get a high grade so, yay!

Been thinking about dissertations recently, can honestly say I'm a little worried as I still don't have a proper narrowed down idea of what to write about, argh! I think I can easily assume that my last year in university will by far be the most stressful, but hopefully I'll gain a lot from it too, mostly a degree at the end when I finally graduate.

But anyway, as I said this was just a bit of a general chit chat today as I wanted to blog but didn't have a set topic. Hope you've all had good weeks and that you have a great weekend as we welcome May, and hopefully some nice weather comes along soon, although its England so anything could happen with the weather really.
Sunglasses and umbrellas at the ready!

Until next time, thanks for reading :) x

I'm so bad at this...Oops!

Hello there,

Yes I'm back, currently sitting in my pyjamas, watching Madagascar with a face mask on, as you do on a Saturday night.

I seem to have let my blog suffer again for a while and I know I said it before but I'll say it again, I'm sorry and this time I'll keep posting, whether its about films or not just because I enjoy having somewhere to write my thoughts.

Had a lot of work going on recently but nearly finished my second year at university now so currently have more free time which I plan on spending in the gym or blogging.

Finished my short film that I'd blogged about previously and am unsure yet about whether it'll be going onto YouTube but for now its just on a DVD and I hope to one day share it with you guys, found out just yesterday our grade for it which was a first, so so happy and proud of my group for all our hard work and effort that went into it. Hours sitting in hot edit room ended up being worth it, next up the student film screening to see what others think of it. It's a bit odd and confusing but hopefully people enjoy it.

So, now I've updated you guys again I will stick to my word properly this time, I absolutely promise, and I will be blogging more, but it won't always be about films or television so remember that and don't feel let down or disappointed when it's not.

Anyway, for tonight that is all as I can feel my face cracking each time I move so best wash off this face mask. Enjoy your weekends my lovelies and until next time,

Thanks for reading, much love :)

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hello, hello, hello...

So I'm not wanting to make excuses for the lack of blog posts but I thought that any readers should at least know why and not think that I'm not sticking to it.

I'm coming up to the end of my second year at university and have recently had a load of work to be doing. One of these bits of coursework has been to create a short film, and this doesn't happen quickly or easily. My friend Hannah and I, as well as another group member, have been working on our short film that we named Trapped, a lot recently and it is slowly coming together. We got all the filming done, captured our footage and as the editor I am nearly finished working together with Hannah to ensure that it all flows well and looks good.

Hopefully when it is all finished, handed in, marked and done with, then I would like to try and maybe get it onto this blog or my YouTube channel (which isn't an interesting one yet, I wouldn't look for it), but obviously I have to get it to the finished state first so for now I shall leave you with some funny photos from editing.

Until next time, thanks for reading :)

The Vampire Diaries

Hello my lovelies,

So I previously mentioned that I'd gotten myself caught up in another television series, and as you can tell that was The Vampire Diaries. I can easily say I love it!

Although it may be embarrassing to admit, I was one of those girls that loved the Twilight books and films so when I found this I got caught up in the story lines and became obsessed with it very quickly.  I am that type of person that once I've started a new series if I like it enough I will watch it continuously until I have caught up with the latest episode. This is exactly what I did. So without using spoilers I want to try and write about my thoughts on this drama and sci-fi type series.

From the first episode I was hooked straight away, I had to know more and find out what was going to happen and had to keep watching to how the plot line progressed with each episode that followed.

I have now caught up with the very latest episode and have loved it all, each week I look forward to the next but hate having to wait. I can easily say that from the beginning the story lines have developed so much and in a good way as they keep viewers like me entertained and keep us hooked wanting to find out more as soon as the following episode it out. One of my friends also watches so with each new episode we are then able to discuss our thoughts and say what we'd like to see happen next between the characters.

Each episode can have more than one plot line developing in it. As we are shown clips from the characters past to inform us of their back stories and what happened for them to be the way they are now. A big plot line that develops within every episode since the very first one, and happens to be my favourite part, is the love triangle between Elena, Stefan and Damon. It's entertaining and interesting to watch and find out who Elena will choose in the end, not that I want Vampire Diaries to ever end.

The cast are amazing and each play their characters so well. I hadn't read the books so I don't know what the characters were like before it was made into a series but I couldn't imagine them being any other way as the cast fit them perfectly and carry out the story lines brilliantly.

There is also a spin off series from The Vampire Diaries called The Originals, which is also brilliant and I also happen to be up to date with the most recent episodes. Some cast members are the same (if you've watched any of The vampire Diaries you'll understand) but the story lines are different and allows us to find out more about these specific characters and their pasts.

All there is to do now is to wait until the next episodes are out, until next time, thanks for reading :)

I am a terrible blogger!

Hello my lovelies,

I know I said before Christmas that I'd blog more and make it a regular thing, but nearly straight after I said that, I failed it, and I apologise.
Over my Christmas holidays and when I came back to university for the start of term again I was just so busy and my blog was neglected because of that, but that's going to change. At the moment my friend Hannah (who you'll find on her blog: Metaphorical Cheers) and I are working on a short film of our own for an assessment we have coming up so there will still be days when I'm too busy to post but I'll try my best. Maybe I'll even post that on here when it's completed, into the editing stage now, all coming together slowly.

Just yesterday I went to see the new Lego Movie and loved it so there will be a review of that up soon for you all to take a look at, and I've gotten myself obsessed with another television series so no doubt I'll probably mention that soon too!

So I'm back to blogging again, and this time it won't be so long until my next post, promise!
Until then, thanks for reading and have a great day :)
